   Andrea Alden-McCollum, Managing Attorney of the Kona office, is originally from California. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1978 to 1983 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies. Andrea graduated with honors from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in 1991 and became a member of the California bar the same year. She practiced mostly in Santa Barbara County in the areas of criminal defense and civil rights litigation before finally fulfilling her dream and moving to Hawaii in 1998.
   
   After spending a couple of years at home with young children and surfing all over the west side of the island, Andrea joined the Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i Kona office in February 2001 and became licensed in Hawaii in November 2001. She has worked at Legal Aid first as an AmeriCorps attorney, then as a staff attorney. Andrea represents clients in Family Court in adoption, guardianship, and domestic violence TRO cases. She receives appointments from the Family Court to act as Guardian Ad Litem for minors in foster care and other Family Court cases, and offers a monthly uncontested pro se divorce clinic. She also handles some public benefits cases, representing clients in DHS fair hearings and appealing fair hearing decisions to the Third Circuit Court.
