We are pleased to announce that Alex Aldaz, past player and coach with the Austin Flyers, accepted a position in July 2002 as assistant coach at the University of Redlands (California).Redlands is an outstanding NCAA Division III soccer power, advancing to the finals of the 2001 national championship tournament.Alex, a long-time member of the 77 Flyers, became a coach with the Flyers in the Fall of 1998 while still in school at the University of Texas.

Over the span of the following four years, Alex worked incredibly hard as a junior coach under Luis Papandrea.

Alex gave 100% to the coaching job, and it showed in his teams' results.Alex steadily gained a reputation as an outstanding young coach and, in the Fall of 2001, he was offered a position as assistant coach at Schreiner University, an NCAA Division III program, in Kerrville, Texas.While at Schreiner, Alex continued to coach the 90 Flyers during the 2001-2002 soccer year, making the long commute between Kerrville and Austin several times per week, further demonstrating his commitment to the Flyers and his team.

84 Austin Flyers Alums Big Hit at Schreiner University
On a recommendation from former assistant coach Alex Aldaz, Schreiner University head coach Jason Higgins picked up 84 Austin Flyers alumni David Ramos and Jason Toman for his team.
