  As a varsity football player and 1987 graduate of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn and now as a practicing psychologist in Glen Ellyn, specializing in adolescents issues, Dr. Alcorn has a first-hand and very relevant perspective on the pressures that student athletes face today.As a football scholarship recipient who attended Butler University in Indiana, however, he also understands from personal experience the positive influence that sports can make in a child's or young adult's life.

  CHAD ALCORN, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Director of Adolescent Services at the Center.He received his doctorate degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago.He also holds a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Butler University in Indianapolis.Dr. Alcorn specializes in working with children and adolescents who may be in crisis.His focus of research and clinical interests include working with couples who are stressed in trying to balance work and family issues.He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP).Dr. Alcorn is available for consultation, speaking and community education.He frequently leads workshops on the topic of ADHD, anger, and birth order.He also facilitates therapy groups for adolescent boys, which focus on issues in dealing with anger.Dr. Alcorn is available to counsel individuals, couples, families, and groups.

ALCORN, Ph.D., is the founder of the Central DuPage Pastoral Counseling Center and was its Executive Director for 30 years.He serves the Center now as President of the Endowment.Dr. Alcorn received his bachelor of arts degree from Wheaton College, his master of divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and did post-graduate work at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.He earned his doctorate degree in pastoral psychology from Northwestern University.Dr. Alcorn is an ordained Presbyterian minister and formerly, Associate Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Glen Ellyn.He is a fellow member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and specializes in marital and life management issues.Over the years, he has been on the Professional Advisory Committee for the Family Shelter and other mental health associations in DuPage County.Dr. Alcorn has been a practicing therapist for 32 years.
