Services for Mr. Alcorn , 88 , were Tuesday.
Mr. Alcorn was a pastor at churches in Oklahoma and Texas , including Hemphill Heights Assembly of God in Fort Worth and Oak Cliff Assembly of God.
He was born June 10 , 1913 , in Bradley , Okla. As a teenager during the Dust Bowl , he hitchhiked and hopped trains to find work to help his family , said his son , the Rev. Jerry Alcorn of Grand Prairie.
Mr. Alcorn found work in the oil fields in Skellytown , Texas , his son said. Mr. Alcorn and a friend stole a still and sold 200-proof gin to oil workers.
While staying with his sister in Oklahoma City , Mr. Alcorn was invited to atent revival meeting when he was 17. It was there that Mr. Alcorn changed his ways.
He used to say that as he rode his motorcycle home that night , all the streetlights looked like they'd been to the laundry and all the stars looked like they were on parade , his son said.
Mr. Alcorn preached throughout Texas and Oklahoma with his wife , Arcie Wright Alcorn. They were married in the mid-1930s.
Mr. Alcorn broadcast a local daily radio show called Gospel Time for 20 years and hosted a national radio show for a year.
He preached on a local television show that also featured his teenage children , the Alcorn Singers.
Mr. Alcorn was pastor of Oak Cliff Assembly of God from 1941 to 1945.
He was pastor of Hemphill Heights Assembly of God for seven years in the 1950s.
Mr. Alcorn also preached in Brazil , Europe , the United Kingdom and South Africa with David Wilkerson , author of the best-selling book The Cross and the Switchblade.

After retiring , he enjoyed fishing along the Gulf Coast.
When a young preacher asked Mr. Alcorn what the most important thing in ministry was , he replied : Integrity , integrity , integrity , Jerry Alcorn said.
Mr. Alcorn's wife of died in December.
