Jenifer Greene met and married Brad Alcorn, a Fresno city police officer, and the couple had three kids, Jesse (age 9), Haley (age 8) and Cade Hunter (age 5).

Alcorn stepped into the boxing ring for the first time in 1998 and placed third in a national tournament.

Boxing as a lightweight, Alcorn got a title shot in April and made the most of it, knocking out Sue Mullett in the second round to win the WIBF World Lightweight belt at the Palace Indian Gaming Casino in Lemoore.
    ...
In her five-year career, Alcorn has never been beaten and she fully intends to retire in the next year or so with the belt still in her possession.

"I have three kids that are going to start their academic and athletic careers," Alcorn said, "and I'll be knee deep into that."

While Alcorn's switch from softball to boxing may come as somewhat of a surprise, no one who knows her very well is surprised at all even though boxing was well off her radar screen in high school.

"I never really thought about it," Alcorn said. "I wasn't born into a martial arts family or environment."

Alcorn credits her husband for her swift success.

"I found someone who would support my dreams," Alcorn said, "no matter they are."

Alcorn also understands what her family does to support her.

"It's not just a sacrifice for me," Alcorn said. "It's a sacrifice for my family."

It is a sacrifice she intends to repay for her kids.

"I fulfilled my dream and they were supportive," Alcorn said. "Now it's my turn."

Alcorn she's herself as a role model for not only her children, but for young girls as well.

"They can see by my example that they can still attain their goals," Alcorn said. "Even if their goal isn't gender-oriented around girls."

Recently, the City of Fresno proclaimed a Jenifer Alcorn day, testifying to her success and to further show young girls everywhere that nothing is impossible, no dream is unattainable.

For Alcorn, her legacy will be much more than the championship belt she wears.

Not bad for a little girl from Le Grand.
