The speaker: Chales Alcock is presently Head of the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and is also the Principal Investigator of the Macho Project, an international dark matter experiment.He was educated at the University of Auckland (in his native New Zealand) and at the California Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Physics in 1978.Since leaving Caltech, he has been a long-term member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey (1977-1981), an Associate Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1981-1986), and since then a physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
