Larry Albus & Catholic League - [Cached Version]
Published on: 10/19/2001    Last Visited: 7/19/2002

Larry Albus as I recall was the first person who came up with the idea of a catholic league. He is now a sports marketing director at ab but in the 70s was a 25 year old hotshot athletic director for Saint Louis University. he basically created the metro conference and attempted to get the leaders of several catholic schools together to form a league. He was unfortunately unsuccessful. It is probably a pipe dream now but I would love to see a league w/ SLU, Marquette, creighton, detroit mercy, loyola chicago, xavier, dayton, depaul, dayton maybe notre dame or another school I have forgotten about. As far as villanova, st joes, st johns Those east coast schools I don't think would go for a mainly midwest league.I think it is an eventuality that these schools will one day be in a league together because of the football issue.SLU is going to be in a non football league soon. Then again maybe most of the c-usa schools will drop their programs since they suck so much.I think louisville, tulane maybe ec and usf are the only decent football schools in c-usa.
