In response to Richard White's comments (Nov. 17 letter), I would like to ask that he thinks before he writes his next letter.
I believe in creationism, but I also acknowledge that it is a theory, much like evolution is a theory. We must not mislead by teaching evolution as "irrefutable," because it is. The Gallup Organization found in a poll held in 1997 that 44 percent of all American adults believe in the biblical interpretation of creation, 39 percent believe in theistic evolution, and only 10 percent hold the scientific evolution stance that White does. As I recall, adults are typically older than the age of 12.
It is true many Americans believe an intelligent designer created intelligent beings rather than intelligence forming from unintelligible matter.
