   Robert B. Albertson, Principal & Chief Strategist, Sandler O'Neill & Partners, L.P., New York, New York Robert B. Albertson was founder and President of Pilot Financial, a global financial sector performance fund spanning European, Latin and US banks, brokers and specialty finance companies. He is also on the advisory board of National Interbank, a premier U.S. provider of private-label online banking.
   
   Mr. Albertson was Director of US Bank Research (1987-99) and Global Coordinator for financials research (1997-99) for Goldman Sachs & Co., where he led a team of analysts covering the U.S. banking industry and established initial research coverage of banks in Europe in the 1980s and several Latin American banks in the 1990s. He also spearheaded research efforts on internet banking and the impact of technology.
   
   While at Goldman, he also worked closely with investment banking, supporting new business development, designing and marketing equity offerings, and consulting on acquisitions. During his tenure at Goldman, he was involved in major bank stock underwritings. He has also been a regular consultant on bank mergers, counseling investment bankers, bank managements and bank boards. Prior to Goldman, he was Managing Director, US Bank Equities Research at Smith Barney.
   
   Mr. Albertson is a graduate of both the Harvard Business School and Carnegie-Mellon University. He has been a frequent commentator for CNN, CNBC, and Nightly Business television as well as other business news media. He has also been a regular speaker before banking industry and supervisory organizations, including many of the top 25 US banks, the New York Federal Reserve Bank and the Bank for International Settlements.
