   The Calgary Home & Interior Design show takes place this weekend at Stampede Park's Roundup Centre, featuring stylish divas such as Room Service's Sarah Richardson and the French Connection Fine Antiques' Pilar Albertson.

   "People are going back to the basics," agrees Pilar Albertson, owner of Calgary's French Connection Fine Antiques store specializing in high-end European antiques.
   
   Whether it's a bergere chair, armoire or settee, "a tailored, sophisticated piece can really dress up a room."
   
   Unique lighting courtesy of a chandelier from the 1800s helps create a warm eclectic look, as does the idea of "introducing architectural pieces into the home, such as corinthian columns, arched windows, fencing or corbels," says Albertson. "By bringing in pieces that typically belong outside, you can create stunning, decorative effects."
   
   It pays to think outside the box.
   
   "We encourage our clients to envision completely different settings - buying something ordinary and making it extraordinary," says Albertson, adding that an old, beat-up dresser is easily revitalized by dropping a sink into it for that one-of-a-kind creation.
