Bob Albertson is the Founding President of HOPE Housing of America and Real Estate Consulting Services in Newport Beach, CA. He has held senior leadership positions with some of the nation's largest publicly held homebuilders such as President of Presley Homes of Southern California, and President of Barratt American Homes in Irvine. Bob was also President and owner of his own company, Village Homes of California, Executive Vice President of US Development Corporation, and Vice President of Marketing for William Lyon Homes and Broadmoor Homes. Bob has been proactive in the acquisition, planning, development, construction, sales and marketing of 30,000 residential units. His work has taken him to different housing markets including Northern and Southern California, Arizona, Colorado and Oklahoma. Some of these projects include large master planned communities with a mix of real estate uses such as commercial and industrial, market rate residential units, affordable units, luxury homes in the million dollar range, senior communities, and golf course communities.

Bob believes one of the most rewarding products he has done is his work on seniors projects which include large master planned communities with significant amenity packages including golf courses, clubhouses, lakes, commercial and industrial uses.

Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Bob remembers a happy childhood where he was inspired by his Mother, and learned how to be independent and honest from his Father. He was encouraged by his brother-in-law who was his first mentor.
    ...
Bob's most notable achievement has been his continuing volunteer leadership of the BIA's HomeAid America. He is one of the original co-founders, and served as the Founding President of HomeAid when it was incorporated in 1989 as a nonprofit organization. Under his leadership and guidance, over $40 million in-kind donations of labor and materials have been raised to complete 70 shelter projects in 8 states. More than 3,500 companies in the building industry have been mobilized in a successful effort of over 1.5 million volunteer hours in the program. HomeAid America has become the number one developer of shelter beds in the United States. Over 1,500 beds have been added to help the transitionally homeless and more than 15,000 women, children, men and families have been given renewed hope for a new life.

The idea to create HomeAid America came about as the result of a non-profit care provider asking the Orange County BIA Chapter to remodel an old ranch house that could be used to house some temporarily homeless families. The BIA/OC Chapter and a few of the members donated their time and put in a small amount of seed money to fund the start-up operation. While running Presley Homes, Bob took on the role of builder co-captain, along with his lifetime friend Bart Hansen, builder and principal of Shawntannah Development Company.
    ...
Bob realized that his major challenge was getting people to understand and share the vision that as HomeAid benefits the participants within the community, it also benefits the individual companies and subcontractors that participate.

While serving as the volunteer President of HomeAid America, Bob was asked by a local HomeAid Chapter to organize an effort to build four homes and a school for a well-known foster care provider. He was able to secure four builders to donate all the labor, materials, furnishings and landscaping for the homes. He led his committee to obtain the entitlements, and built four, 3,000 square foot homes with six bedrooms and three baths in just ten days. A 14,000 square foot school was delivered and donated 12 months later. The Inland Communities Children's Ranch has an estimated value of approximately $3.5 million, most of which was donated by the building industry.

Bob has the confidence of knowing that HomeAid is a proven winner that works as a homebuilders program. Because the HomeAid message helps people so directly, it's easy for him to continue spreading the good news. In his new role as the Chairman of the National Advisory Council, Bob's job as a spokesperson is to connect the dots across the nation with the businesses that will share the vision. HomeAid America's goal is to establish 40 new chapters in the next 8 years. With 1 million people on the streets each night, there is much to be done.

Bob has received numerous awards and honors for his many contributions to the home-building industry, some of which include: The Sales and Marketing Council's Max C. Tipton Award, the BIA of Southern California Achievement Award, the BIA Memorial Award, the CBIA's President's Award and The Life Achievement Award presented by the Los Angeles Chapter of the BIA's Sales and Marketing Council for his years of service to the building industry and the homeless.

That dedication is a reflection of Bob's personal philosophy of "giving something back" to the community and his belief in the importance of having one focused program for the building industry that has staying power. "Happiness for me is seeing other people succeed and value one another".

Bob is married and lives in Newport Beach. His interests include golf, classic automobiles and airplanes.
