He was born February 2, 1939 in Brookings, South Dakota, a son of Joe William and Marian Lucile Stoddard Alberts.
David had lived in Brookings and Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Spokane, Pullman and Moses Lake, Washington and the last 12 years in Layton and Clearfield, Utah.
He received his Bachelor of Applied Science from Big Bend Community College, Moses Lake, Washington.
David was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1995.
He was a longtime member of AA.
