Paul Alberta Paul Alberta began his musical career in a small suburban community near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1959, he entered the Boston Conservatory of Music. In 1963, Mr. Alberta went to Norwood, Massachusetts as Director of the Norwood Junior High School Band; at the same time he directed the school's newly-formed stage band. In September of 1966, he was appointed Director of Music for the Norwood Public Schools. Presently, Mr. Alberta is the Director of Fine Arts in the Norwood Public Schools and is a former music education faculty member at New England Conservatory of Music. Mr. Alberta is presently a member of the MENC, MMEA, MICCA, and IAJE. He served MMEA as public relations director for two years, host chairman for the Southeastern District Festival and Festival Auditions; band manager for Southeastern Districts, and adjudicator for district, All-State, and All-Eastern Festivals. He has served MICCA as president for three years and IAJE as Mass. President for two years. He is the recipient of the Lowell Mason Award, the Mass. Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association Conductor of the Year Award, and the Mass. Lions Club's prestigious Melvin Jones Award. Under Mr. Alberta's direction, the Norwood Mustang Marching Band, the Norwood Symphony Band, and the Norwood High School Jazz Ensemble have appeared at numerous national and international festivals and competitions, as well as the Orange Bowl Parade and a nine country tour of Europe. The bands have won numerous awards and medals for their musical and field performances. Mr. Alberta has and continues to be guest conductor of many regional and All-State groups as well as a national clinician and adjudicator. -
