Shree Ajay Ahuja had been a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force for 14 years.He was born on May 22, 1963 in Kota, Rajasthan.He completed his graduation from the National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the IAF as a fighter Pilot on June 14, 1985.His illustrious career included stints as an operational Pilot on the MiG-23 fighter-bomber and MiG-21 variant, along with instructional flying experience of over 1,000 hours spent in teaching young Pilots.He was Squadron leader of a photo reconnaissance unit during the disaster.All of his students liked him immensely for his tolerant, joyful nature.He was considered an expert pilot and an exceptional professional by his colleagues.
