   A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Sam graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors degree in Hotel Administration. With over 25 years in the hospitality industry, he has been a general manager for hotels throughout the Southeast and has been directly responsible for overseeing the opening and operations of over 25 hotels. Prior to founding his own company, Sam was the Executive Vice President of a major hotel management company for twelve years. At present, he serves on Choice Hotels' Advisory Board and has been active in local, state, regional, and national hotel associations and industry groups throughout his career. Currently, he is a general partner and investor in several hotels in the Southeast.
   
   As one of the principals of Gateway Hospitality, Sam and his partner Clancy Cipkala, founded Gateway Hospitality after many years of successful hotel management and marketing.
