King of Sole is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and until 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, said owner Dion Agee.
The store also is open during community events, including Fourth of July celebrations.
Agee said customers often comment on the lack of other businesses open on Sundays and holidays.
"I've paid my rent with what I made on a Sunday," Agee said. "I've had sales in that one day that pay my rent. Nobody else is open, so think of what we (business owners), as a group, could be making."
Agee is willing to expand his hours even later if other businesses decide on a uniform time.

"As a shopping area, I think we all benefit by everybody being open any time that people want to come down here and shop and dine and walk around," Agee said. -

Down the street at King of Sole, owner Dion Agee says business owners can,t expect sidewalk plows to push away snow that is packed hard. Agee, who is also the president of the downtowners association board, says the challenge for the downtowners and the EID is to figure out a snow-removal process that best suits businesses, needs.
Pushing all the snow into the gutters creates a drainage problem and large puddles, so plowing a trail down the center of the sidewalk is the best remedy, he said.
,Each business owner still has to go out and do the front of their own business,, he said. ,As a business owner, you need to own a shovel and a broom. Regardless of the (district), it,s ultimately my responsibility.,
