  Randy Adler, owner of Moondoggies surf shops, said the slumping housing market directly affects the profits at his three surf shops in Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo.
  
  "Unfortunately, I do a lot of reading on economics, so I'm a little pessimistic," Adler said."I think there is a slowdown across the board, not just (in retail)."
  
  Adler said sales in the past six months have dipped a bit, although less than 5 percent.
  
  "The overall foot traffic is less.People aren't spending as much," he said.
  
  He blamed a slowing economy and an increase in surf apparel stores for the slowdown in his business.
