Trained in engineering, architecture, and computer graphics, Lon's interests span design simulation to immersive historic visualization, and collaborative networks.His work has ranged from an early immersive rail operations command center for Canadian National Railways, to a computer graphic and CAD strategy for Japan's Taisei construction corporation, interface design for internet sites such as GTE's SuperPages, and Co-Chairing the "Int'l Workshop on Cities, Design, & the Internet."As Vice President of Cyra Technologies, Inc., as venture-backed 3D laser scanning and visualization startup, he helped lead strategy for the world's first high-accuracy, large-object 3D reality capture system--a camera capable of generating 3D models of objects from battleships to buildings and monuments.In 1994 with colleagues at Berkeley, the University of Ferrara, and Italian government he established the "Museum of the Future Consortium" with the goal of fostering discussion about the role of new media in museums and historic visualization.A frequent speaker and moderator on technology and heritage, he sits on the executive board of the Virtual Heritage network.He holds an MArch. degree from Berkeley, and a BSE from Princeton University.
