Sylvester's retirement is effective April 30.He will turn his attention to his campaign for the Calhoun County Commission District 2 seat.

Chamber board member Aaron Acker of Acker Electric Co. , who heads the search committee , said the organization is looking for a true team player to work with the diverse economic development entities and interests in the county.

Whether people are chamber members or not , this guy or lady is going to be working for them , Acker said.

Acker added that the experience of the chamber staff gives the search committee the luxury of time in finding a replacement for Higgins.

Aaron Acker, who led the chamber's search committee, said an attribute they were looking for in candidates was previous experience running a chamber of commerce.

"She's a qualified individual with the character and integrity we think will be an asset to Calhoun County," Acker said.
