* The council heard a request by Stan Abram, president of the DeSoto County/Arcadia Beautification and Revitalization Committee, to consider joining with the committee to come up with a project to paint the west side water tower in a more appealing color scheme as a welcome to Arcadia display.

* The council approved unanimously a request by the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Department for a waiver of the greens fees at the Arcadia Municipal Golf Course for the Fire Officers Managerial Association Golf Tournament to be held Feb. 20, 2003.

Stan Abram, president of the DeSoto County/Arcadia Beautification Committee, agreed the special masters arrangement is a positive move."The beautification committee is delighted at the progress that the city government is making towards bringing forth the beauty and charm that has been somewhat hidden over the past few years."He noted that both special masters appointed by the city are well respected in the legal community.

"We're now seeing a change in the growth pattern of this area of Florida," says Beautification Committee president Stan Abram.

"The challenge will be not so much to get the downtown area weeded and cleaned up," says Abram, "but to keep it weeded and cleaned up on a continuing basis."
