Welcoming the result of the confidence vote, INOC General Secretary George Abraham said, the development would enable the "historic and forward-looking" Indo-American civilian nuclear deal, to move forward, providing an opportunity to take the strategic relationship between the two countries to new heights.

"The immediate benefit of this vote would be that both countries could now move forward with the deal and that would allow India to avail the latest technology for nuclear power generation," said INOC President Surinder Malhotra, stressing that energy security is key to future development of India.

The vote, he said, sends a clear message to the world that India is willing and ready to play a major role in shaping of future events.

"INOC salutes those members of Parliament who voted for the treaty and those who placed national interest above personal or party politics," he added.
