Mr. Abdel-Halim is currently the Director for Resid Upgrading for Kellogg Brown and Root. In this assignment, he is responsible for all technical and commercial activities related to the Resid Oil Supercritical Extraction (ROSE) process, Delayed Coking, visbreaking, heavy oil upgrading and all other thermal cracking processes.
Mr. Abdel-Halim provides leadership for Kellogg Brown & Root's Resid Upgrading Technology Group under which KBR exclusively licenses its proprietary ROSETM supercritical solvent deasphalting process. His primary responsibilities include strategic planning, technology development, and licensing related to Resid Upgrading. He has 30 years experience in the refining industry, including process design, process economics, feasibility studies, company valuations, fired heaters and advanced control and optimization. In his previous assignment, Mr. Abdel-Halim was the Business Director, Refining for Brown & Root Engineering and Construction (BREC), where he was responsible for worldwide technical and marketing activities in the refining area.
Mr. Abdel-Halim holds patents in the areas of delayed coking, heavy oil upgrading and has published numerous technical papers related to hydro-processing and bottom-of-the barrel upgrading. He holds a B.S. in Refinery Engineering (with honors) and Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
