   Tahnya Abbott Tahnya is a South Texas native, having grown up in Kingsville and attending Texas A&M University at Kingsville for four years to study art.
   
   She joined the U.S. Navy in 1995 and was stationed in Hawaii, where she worked with a multitude of aircraft. When her enlistment was up, she returned to Texas, where she works for NAS Corpus Christi issuing air-craft for the T44 Training Squadron.
   
   She lives in Sinton with her husband (Shane), stepson (Travis), two very large dogs and the occasional cat or rabbit. She has been a member of the U.S.S. Joan Of Arc since 2006.
