Biography: Robert P. Abbott (S'64-M'65) was born in Newberry, S.C., on April 22, 1942. He received the B.S.E.E. degree from Clemson University, Clemson, S.C., in 1964 and the M.S.E.E. degree from Ohio State University, Columbus, in 1965.
In 1964 he joined the technical staff of Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc., Holmdel, N. J., where he became involved in measurements and studies of the TD-2 microwave radio relay system for digital transmission. Since 1968 he has been engaged in the design and analysis of intraframe coders for videotelephone use.
Mr. Abbott is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Phi Eta Sigma.
