   Kelly accepted her well-deserved award at the BCAB Conference in Penticton. Next to Kelly is CHBC's General Manager, Keith Williams (right).

   With that commitment in mind, in November 2000, CHBC brought in Kelly Abbott to host a newly created community feature called "Okanagan Now". The idea was to increase CHBC's level of community service, through increased on-location access and television exposure to even more community groups within the Okanagan.

   Each day Kelly will be traveling throughout the Okanagan region, exploring in detail spectacular Okanagan places and revealing the true greatness in the Okanagan, its people. Kelly will profile interesting people, talk about upcoming community events and introduce you to organizations that help make the Okanagan a special place to live.

   In August 2001, Kelly joined seven other climbers for the Ascent for Alzheimer's - a hike to the top of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa to raise awareness and funding for the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
   
   Kelly has raised over $16,000. for the Alzheimer Society of BC to date. The funds raised stay in this area.
   
   As recently as April, 2002, Kelly spoke to a Kiwanis organization in Penticton where another $250. was raised for the Alzheimer Society of BC.
