In August 2001, Kelly joined seven other climbers for the Ascent for Alzheimer's - a hike to the top of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa to raise awareness and funding for the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
Kelly has raised over $16,000. for the Alzheimer Society of BC to date. The funds raised stay in this area.
As recently as April, 2002, Kelly spoke to a Kiwanis organization in Penticton where another $250. was raised for the Alzheimer Society of BC.
