Carolyn was born in Salina, Kansas in the early years of the Baby Boom following WWII. With an English mother who loves literature and the arts and a scientist father (on the Biochemistry faculty at Oklahoma State University), she had the best of both worlds growing up. As a child, she spent three years in Ohio, 6 months in the Bronx, New York, but mainly grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma, a university town. She attended Antioch College for one year in the '60s, then returned to finish college at OSU where she met her first husband, a native of Guyana, South America, where they lived for 6 months. Carolyn moved to MA alone in 1970 and worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for nearly 23 years as a training manager and consultant, before leaving to start her own business.
She has been married for 15 years to a private pilot/photographer/Vietnam Vet; they have a 15 year old son (a 2nd degree black belt in Ed Parker Kenpo Karate) whom they home schooled during his Jr. High/middle school years, before returning him to a private Christian school to complete high school. Carolyn is a former 60's liberal who converted to conservative politics in '93 and to the Lord in '97.
When not working as an information and instructional design consultant in the high-tech industry, Carolyn trains with her son in Kenpo Karate [she's 4'11" and also holds 2nd degree Black Belt ranking], is a Bible study leader and piano accompanist for her church choir, and loves to write and edit. She's been an avid web surfer since '94 and joined LoudCitizen and its Boston forum just before Thanksgiving, 2000, during the Florida recount. She became a member of the LoudCitizen national leadership team in late December ‘2000, and teamed up with Dave Young and Don Miller in May 2001 to found America's Voices.
Carolyn holds a BA in English from Oklahoma State University and an MEd from Boston University. She resides with her family in North Central MA, 60 miles northwest of the People's Republic of Cambridge. -
