   Lester Abberger Named New Vice President of Public Affairs
   
   March 27,1997/Orlando, FL -- Increasing its focus on public service, Florida Water Services has named Lester Abberger the company's new vice president of public affairs. Mr. Abberger, previously a vice president of the Florida Hospital Association, assumes his new role immediately.
   
   "I am very excited to be joining Florida Water Services, a company that realizes that clean water and clean environment are important to a healthy society," said Mr. Abberger. "At Florida Water, we're working not only to provide clean water for our citizens today, but also to educate the public and protect the environment to make sure that this resource is available for the most precious resource of tomorrow - our children."
   
   As vice president of public affairs, Mr. Abberger will direct the company's federal and state government relations activities consistent with the company's three priorities of supplying quality water, providing quality service and preserving and conserving the state's natural water resources. "We all depend on the environment, but we also have a responsibility to conserve and protect it for future generations. At Florida Water Services we want to set the standard for citizens and businesses to follow for environmental responsibility."
   
   Mr. Abberger has 20 years of experience working with all levels of state and federal governments in establishing and implementing sound public policy. Abberger's service to the environment includes serving on the Florida Greenways Commission and as a board member of the Governor's Council for a Sustainable Florida. He also serves as a board member of Keep Florida Beautiful and has advised the Trust for Public Lands and 1,000 Friends of Florida on legislative issues. Concerned about education and Florida's children, he serves on the Governor's Commission on Education and is also a board member of the Florida Healthy Kids corporation and the state university system's Institute for Child Health Policy.
