   Dallas, TX. - October 30, 2003 - Archon Financial, a wholly-owned Goldman Sachs Company, recently announced that James Abbee has been promoted to Vice President of Originations for the conduit lender's Western Region. Mr. Abbee is responsible for growing the region's loan origination platform and managing existing mortgage banking relationships. Previous to his appointment, Mr. Abbee had served as an originator for Archon Financial's Midwest Region, originating loans from the company's flagship office in Dallas. Mr. Abbee will continue to be based in Dallas.
   
   Mr. Abbee has been with Archon Financial since the inception of the business late 1997 and has been affiliated with Goldman Sachs for over 7 years. Prior to Archon Financial, Mr. Abbee was involved in Archon Group's Portfolio Management Group, whose responsibility is managing and leveraging portfolios of real estate on behalf of Goldman Sachs' Whitehall Funds. Prior to joining Archon Group, in 1996, Mr. Abbee was with Wells Fargo Bank in the Corporate Banking Group.
   
   Mr. Abbee holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA) and the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association (CMSA).
