Abbasi was quoted as saying in a press release that "Blanco is a close friend of Pakistani community," adding that "she understands our issues and supports our cause.

The PAC, Abbasi claimed in the release, has raised $50,000 for her campaign in Lake Charles "in just one hour."
"It is hard doing all this during the month of Ramzan ----- devoted to fasting ----- but we are doing it as a religious duty as well," Abbasi was quoted as saying in the release.
