Emmanuel Abakah
Emmanuel, who hails from Ghana, had all his primary, secondary and university education there before coming to join the company.
His interest in the arts started in the late 80's, when he joined the then Osagyefo Troupe in Ghana.
After completing the training college and becoming a professional teacher, ‘Jerol' as he's normally known as, continued his love for the arts and proceeded to the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, where he obtained a Diploma in Theatre Arts (Dance).
He was appointed the Artistic Co-ordinator for the Agoro Theatre Company in Cape Coast, Ghana, from 1998 until 2002, when he was invited to come and join Osagyefo in UK. During his time with Agoro, he was invited to Denmark, U.S.A and Congo Brazaville as a guest performer / instructor in African music, dance choreography, drumming and drama.
"My ambition is to educate the young and up and coming students as to how African arts could be used as a tool for development. I would also want to aspire to become one of the best choreographers in Europe. It is my ambition also, to help Osagyefo become one of the best African Arts Companies in England." says Emmanuel.
