Julie Abadie, a spokeswoman for the American Psychiatric Association, said the ad cost $5,575.No additional advertising campaign is planned, she said, the costs were paid out of a fund that receives voluntary contributions from association members.

The ad, which described itself as "an open letter" to the governor, stated: "Please don't let New Mexico be the first state to allow psychologists - who have no medical training - to risk patient health and safety by prescribing potent psychiatric medicines."
