Nancy Aaronson graduated from the University of Tulsa, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management in 1977. Attending Tulsa on a golf scholarship, one of her best performances individually was her 11th place finish at the 1976 AIAW National Championship where Tulsa came within one stroke of winning the national championship. In 1977 the team once again finished in second place. While at Tulsa, Nancy roomed with fellow teammate Nancy Lopez, and served as the team captain her senior season.

Prior to turning professional in 1978, Aaronson qualified for the USGA Women's Open twice and was very active on the amateur golf circuit. Aaronson played on the Women's Professional Golf Tour (WPGT) for three years and in 1979 she was President of the WPGT Players Association.

Developing and operating country clubs and resorts has been the focus of Aaronson's career. Her introduction into the building industry began as a sales representative with United States Gypsum Company. She also became a corporate staff member with the company where she served as a Product Manager, training sales representatives and working with manufacturing personnel in eleven western states. Continuing her education, she earned her MBA from Pepperdine University in 1984.

In 1985, Aaronson was hired by Landmark Land Company to assist in the expansion and operations of La Quinta Hotel Golf & Tennis Resort. In 1988, she was named Vice President of Landmark Land Company and Assistant Project Director of Mission Hills Country Club, a 1760-acre master planned golf community in Rancho Mirage, California. Mission Hills is also the home of the Nabisco Dinah Shore LPGA Championship, one of the four majors on the LPGA Tour. In 1989, Aaronson became the first woman Project Director within the Landmark Land Company, assuming full responsibility for Mission Hills Country Club and the Mission Hills Real Estate Company.

Nancy Aaronson graduated from Tulsa in 1977.

Throughout her career, Aaronson has been active in the donation of facilities and financial support to such organizations as Desert Junior Golf, American Junior Golf, Children's Discovery Museum, College of the Desert, Desert Hospital Foundation, United Way, City of Hope, and the LPGA Foundation. She also served on tournament committees for the Nabisco Dinah Shore, PGA National Club Professional and Bob Hope Classic.

Aaronson was promoted in 1998 to the Dallas headquarters of ClubCorp and named Executive Vice President of The Owners Club, a unique collection of private residence clubs in resort destinations. In two and a half years, her newly created division realized dynamic growth and emerged as the leading vacation ownership company in its market. FiveOwners Club resort destinations include clubs within Indigo Run on Hilton Head Island; the historic Homestead Resort in Virginia; Barton Creek Resort in Texas; Marina Vallarta Golf Club in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and a ski lodge in Telluride, Colorado.

Aaronson was recently named President of La Quinta Land Partners, who in partnership with Nationwide Realty, Inc., a subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance is developing Country Club of the Desert in La Quinta, California. The 900-acre development includes a 54-hole private equity country club, spa, fitness center and 800 home sites. Twenty-seven holes are under construction and expected to open for play in December of 2001.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Aaronson was inducted into the El Paso Golf Hall of Fame in 1996. She was also honored by the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in 1974, and was named Athlete of the Year in Golf. Overall, Aaronson won three El Paso City Championships (1973, 1975, 1977).

"A number of things distinguish us from other clubs," explained Nancy Aaronson, president of La Quinta Land Partners. "First, this is an equity membership club, which will eventually be run by its members. And second, we're offering golf at its highest level. We don't know of any other clubs in the country or even the world that has three courses that are member owned.

"Another unique feature is the low number of home sites will have such a generous use of land and open space," Aaronson continued. "And we've limited our membership to only 276 per course, which means our members will enjoy plenty of accessibility and tranquility on a variety of excellent courses."
    ...
"It's the tradition of golf as a social activity," Aaronson continued. "That's what the early clubs were all about. We envision that social nature and camaraderie will be emphasized here. After all, wherever you go in the world, it's the people that make the place."

Yes, but at Country Club of the Desert, it's also the golf that makes the place.
    ...
Nancy Aaronson agreed. "Phase I is very ambitious," she commented. "We plan on having 350 finished homes and home sites, 27 holes of golf and our clubhouse open by next fall. We already have more than 100 members, and we foresee memberships in the six-figures range."

Of the community's 819 residences, Aaronson said one-third will be large custom homes, while the rest will be offered as semi-custom with plans that can be individually adjusted by the homeowner. Most of the homes are located on cul-de-sacs, creating a high level of privacy and limiting drive-through traffic. Three products will be launched this winter, designed in early California style with "Tuscan overtones."

    ...
"Our acquisition of the Old Course Starter's Box will always be associated with our beginning," commented Aaronson," and we'll forever enjoy a connection to the birthplace of golf and its distinguished traditions."

"The early clubs were all about golf as a social activity," says developer representative Nancy Aaronson, "and that's the tradition we're implementing here.
    ...
"It was hard to believe that we even had the chance to get it," Aaronson recalled, "and when we won the bidding we were just ecstatic." It will be placed between the first and 10th tees at the Dye Course.

Aaronson's experience in the Coachella Valley dates to 1985 when she was hired by Landmark Land Company to assist in the expansion of La Quinta Hotel. Later she was project director at Mission Hills CC.
