Jared Aarons comes to FOX News At Nine by the way of Butte, Montana., where he cut his teeth for nearly two years, first working as a sports reporter, and then as a news anchor for KXLF.

Jared grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and found his passion for sports at an early age, going to all types of sporting events at Arizona State University, and elsewhere around the Valley of the Sun.And while he knew early on that he had an insatiable love for sports, Jared also knew he was better at talking about sports then he was at playing them.So he embarked on a career in broadcasting.

Jared began as a sports reporter at ASU in 1998, working for KASC radio, and for Sun Devil TV's award winning sports program, "Devils on the Deuce."During college Jared also held internships with KNBC in Los Angeles, KTVK in Phoenix, and with the Arizona Diamondbacks during their World Series Championship season.

Now in Iowa, Jared can't wait to bring his love for sports, and his talent for storytelling to FOX News at Nine.As he puts it, "Sports are about more than just scores and highlights. You have to find the story behind each game, fan, and player. That's what makes it fun."

In his spare time, Jared enjoys golf, baseball, movies, and spending time with his dog, Vashti.

    Jared Aarons

Jared Aarons is a native of Phoenix, Arizona (well, actually, he was born in Denver, CO, but moved with his family to Phoenix when he was only about 2 months old).He stayed close to home for school, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. He was the fifth person in his family to graduate from ASU (with both parents, his sister Devra, and his brother Martin preceding him).Because of his strong family ties, Jared was raised cheering for the ASU Sun Devils. It was in doing this that he gained an insatiable love for sports. (His other favorite sports teams include the Arizona Diamondbacks, the New York Giants, and whoever is playing the University of Arizona today.) Jared decided upon his chosen profession at a Speech and Debate tournament in high school, when a judge pulled him aside after a competition and said "With your voice, it would be a waste if you didn't go into broadcasting."So, Jared combined his love for sports with his talent for talking, and decided to become a sports reporter.Jared compares his job at Montana's News Station to that of a utility infielder - someone who does a little of everything. He works as a sports and news reporter, a host of Savoring Montana, and also does the occasional anchor-stint.However, his main love is athletics, and he hopes someday to be the main sports anchor in a major city (he just doesn't know which one yet). When he's not working, Jared enjoys golfing, baseball, sitting on his couch watching TV, playing with his dog Vashti, and spending time with family and friends. While in Montana, he hopes to learn how to ski, snow-board, fish, and go white-water rafting. This Arizona boy also wants to learn how to cope with the cold weather. You can e-mail Jared at JAarons@kxlf.com.
