MOHPG lost a vital member, when Bernice Aarons passed away this month. Bernice has been a member of MOHPG since 1998 and served as the Refreshment Chair at the MOHPG monthly meetings for several years. She was also a docent on several Mother's Day home tours and volunteered at the Christmas parties.
Bernice was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and was a resident of California since 1952. She was a graduate of UCLA and was a dietician in many hospitals including Cedars Sinai. Bernice served as president of the California American Dietician Association. Bernice was active for years in Hadasah, a Jewish service organization that raised money for hospitals in Israel.
I still expect to look in the kitchen at a MOHPG meeting and see Bernice's jaunty beret leaning over her famous sherbet punch. To quote her nephew, Ron, "Bernice retired from work, but she never retired from life." I think he really described Bernice well. Good journey, Bernice, we will miss you.
