Aaron seeks return as county coroner
    ...
Hempstead County Coroner Gary Aaron announced his intention to seek a third term of office Wednesday subject to the May 18 Democrat Party Preferential Primary Election.

"My biggest concern is that I relate to the public that I appreciate their support in the last two terms, and would appreciate their support in a third term; it has been my honor to serve," Aaron said.

Aaron, who has more than 20 years experience in the local mortuary services industry, said he will continue to bring the expertise of that experience to improvements in the office.

"I think we have a better working relationship with the law enforcement agencies now than we have in the past; we work a lot more closely with them, not only the department heads but also the individuals who work out in the field," he said."That is a tremendous plus, not only to me, but also to the community, I think, because good relationships are important."

Aaron said the services of the coroner's office are not only fact finding in nature but also provide a community service.

"Basically, the coroner's office remains concerned with meeting with people, certainly, consoling folks at times, and we work with law enforcement agencies, not to hinder them, but to work together with them in ascertaining a cause of death in certain situations," he said.

Aaron said he has sought to improve the capabilities of the office by broadening his understanding of health-related issues through Arkansas Department of Health seminars.

Aaron is licensed by the National Conference of Funeral Services Examining Board of the United States and the Arkansas Funeral Directors and Embalming Board, and is currently employed by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home.

He is a 1975 graduate of Spring Hill High School, and a 1978 graduate of the Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston, Texas.

Aaron is also a graduate of the Arkansas Reserve Police Officer Training School, and served as a clinical instructor for the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope mortuary sciences program. He is a director of the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Hope Kiwanis Club and his family attends Unity Baptist Church.
