   Jan Aarnio (nee Paton - one of those notorios twins!) is currently working at "the Heights" in the Student Services Department in the area of Peer Tutoring and G.A.T.E. She also teaches English, Social Studies and is this year's Grad Chairperson. Although Jan graduated from Silver Heights in 1974, no scholarships were won. Instead, she earned the right to stay in high school for the rest of her life as a teacher. Who would have guessed? Her most vivid memories of high school include freshie week, band trips, musicals, travelling to McDonald's on a spare, and volleyball games with "Pischke Power" at the net (Garth Pischke had a powerful spike that put our school on the map. He earned great achievements in the world of volleyball). Since high school graduation she has worked as a legal assistant at law offices and taught school at Hedges Junior High, John Taylor Collegaite, St. James Collegiate and Silver Heights. She says "It's always been interesting working with many of the teachers who taught me in high school". She is married to Dick Aarino and they have two sons, Stefan and Nicholas.
