"We hit really well as a team," said FLC coach Shelly Aaland.
"Nicole (Schwab) was basically unstoppable `85 she had 17 kills," Aaland added of the All-American standout who hit at a stunning .583.
...
"Our serving kept them off balance, too," Aaland said after the Skyhawks posted seven aces.
"This is a great way to end (this part of the schedule)," Aaland said. "The girls are really playing well together." -

"It was a heartbreaker, a marathon heartbreaker," said FLC head coach Shelly Aaland.
"Both teams were so tired, and it went back and forth," Aaland said.
...
"But really, I couldn't be more satisfied," Aaland said. The Skyhawks' 8-1 start is the best for Fort Lewis since 1988.
"It was a heartbreaker, but we can learn from it. And I'd rather have it (a loss) in the preseason than in conference," Aaland said.
"We're still carrying a lot of confidence going into the RMAC. We're putting ourselves in a great position. We're primed and ready to go," Aaland said, adding that the Skyhawks earned some well-deserved rest after a weekend of victories over No. 17 Seattle Pacific, Dixie State College and Eastern New Mexico.
...
But we've had these before," Aaland said.

Aaland used a modified lineup to open the match against Eastern New Mexico.
And the newcomers stepped up as the Skyhawks rolled to a 30-15 victory in the first game.
But the hustling Zias came right back to take the second game as the Skyhawks lost their offensive rhythm.
"Eastern New Mexico is a talented team, a scrappy team," Aaland said.
