Security cameras will be installed at the Rosana Square Shopping Center in Overland Park in the wake of daylight robberies of businesses there.Noble House Jewelry was robbed on Monday and Cookies by Design was robbed by a man with a handgun on March 8.Noble House owner Zoe Herrington said Rosana square, at 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue, does not have surveillance cameras despite being a high-traffic area and vulnerable to crime.

He said he had begun making preparations before the latest robbery.“I would say there’s a problem in the Overland Park area as a whole,” he said. “So, it’s just time.”Overland Park police said a man entered Noble House Jewelry, 11620 Metcalf Ave., about 12:20 p.m. Monday and asked to see engagement rings. When an employee placed a ring, valued at more than $1,000, on the counter the man grabbed it and ran. He was described as black, 30-40 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and bald. He was wearing a white T-shirt and long dark shorts. He left in a silver or gray truck with a flat cover on the bed and was last seen eastbound on 115th Street.A security camera inside the jewelry store captured images of the man.
