Peewee Thunder goalie Zach Leslie, 13, wasn't satisfied with one. He's notched four so far this season as of Friday and his partner in arms Braydon Rubisch, 11, also has one. While Keis said sometimes knowing when they start can be bad with some goalies, it hasn't been an issue with Leslie and Rubisch. Leslie became a goalie in novice. He fell in love with the position and has been wearing the mitts ever since. He's excited about his shutout record this season. "I feel good," Leslie said. "I haven't had that many shutouts in the four years I've played." On the ice, Leslie watches the other team and studies their systems. "I see how the teams play and see how they shoot," he said. Warming up is an important part of any goalie's pre-game routine and the Leslie and Rubisch tandem warm up together. "We do a warm-up for 10 minutes in the net and then Braydon and I will go out and juggle balls," Leslie said. Next year, Leslie advances to bantam level and Rubisch becomes senior peewee goalie. With one shutout already, Rubisch hopes for more in the future. He was blown away by his first. Before warm-up and before skating into the net Rubisch concentrates on the game to come. "Before the game, I close my eyes and visualize the saves I'm going to make and visualize the other team," he said. "The guys move in front of the net and they pass the puck well to clear the zone, so we don't get a lot of shots," Leslie added.
