Founder and President of Matros Technologies, Inc., Dr. Yurii Matros is a recognized authority in the field of chemical reaction engineering.
He is the co-author of over 300 technical papers, 40 patents including 13 USA patents, and 6 books, including the definitive text entitled "Catalytic Processes under Unsteady State Conditions" and published in Russian, English and Chinese.
Dr. Matros is a graduate of Odessa Technical University, where he also received his Ph.D. degree.
For many years he has served as a Professor and Head of the Department at the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis in Novosibirsk, Russia, where he received the degree of Full Doctor of Science.
forty years of academic and applied research has been focused on the gas-solid fixed and fluidized bed reactors, and on forced unsteady-state processes in catalysis.
In the 60-80s he
analyzed various levels of mathematical model of catalytic reactors beginning from the reaction process over the catalyst surface to the processes in catalyst pellet and catalytic reactor itself.

invented reverse flow reactor for various applications.
He elaborated scientific understanding, demonstrated the potential of reverse flow reactors up to the industrial scale and communicated this principal around the world.
guided design and commercialization of unique reverse flow reactors for oxidation of SO2 in sulfuric acid production, oxidation of VOC for air pollution control, and selective catalytic reduction of NOx.
recent developedments include highly efficient regenerative catalytic oxidizers (RCOs) for VOC control, RCO purge system for increasing VOC removal up to more than 99%, and technology for retrofitting regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTOs) into RCOs.
