Acting Vice Chair Roger Rupnow: Reverend Bolden.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Well, I want to concur with your first statement, but since I'm the new kid on the block, I want to ask this question: If you, like other Members of the Board of Trustees, have specific concerns, what do we do?
Rev. Willie Bolden: Well, I think if a Board of Trustee Member calls the Director and says that he or she has a concern they want on the Agenda, I think it should get on the Agenda.
Rev. Willie Bolden: It's not a matter of making a decision whether it should be, if you call, I haven't called the place on there, but I would hate to believe that I would come to a specific Board meeting after asking for a specific item to be placed on the Agenda and I'm prepared to discuss it and it's not on there.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Well, I agree with that.
Acting Vice Chair Roger Rupnow: Rev. Bolden?
Rev. Willie Bolden: Well, I doubt if you find any other Library Directors reporting to someone else other than the Board of Trustees.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Because of all the chaos.
Acting Vice Chair Roger Rupnow: I think and I agree with you, Reverend Bolden, deny [it if you will,] but I think the prospects of that are less than zero.
Rev. Willie Bolden: He can be here and put him at the head of the Agenda so if he has something to do he can go ahead and do that -
Rev. Willie Bolden: - and he can move on.
John Thomas: And I would like to suggest, Mr. Chair, again, to be fair to him, that we give him a little heads up as to what we have been talking about so there is some structure to the meeting to let him know that, you know, no longer does the Executive Director report to us so we're not exactly sure what -- I mean, Anne has been very diligent about letting us know what she is working on, but are those ... are those the right things? You know, are those the right things to be working on, but I think he needs to understand why we want him to come.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Well, that's what we are saying.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Can he ... can he, meaning the County Manager, designate the Board of Trustees certain obligations as it relates to the Executive Director?
Rev. Willie Bolden: Yeah, I was about to - Can I call for the question?
Rev. Willie Bolden: Yeah, to invite the County Manager to come over.
Rev. Willie Bolden: It's already been -
Rev. Willie Bolden: And also to give him some head's up in terms of the concern that the Board has.
Rev. Willie Bolden: So he will be able to respond intelligently.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Have a little side bar.
Acting Vice Chair Roger Rupnow: I'm going to offer a suggestion or a slight amendment to that in that Stephanie indicated she might not be here in March.I might not be here in March, so what happens if we suggest he come in April?
Rev. Willie Bolden: We need to do it soon.
Rev. Willie Bolden: Can I call for the question then we can find out from the Manager when he gets here how does he see his Strategic Plans working with the ones that we have here because we can only assume what he thinks.
