William D. Smitherman
William D. Smitherman is the President and Owner of Absolute Mediation and Arbitration Services, LLC (AMAS).
As President of AMAS, Mr. Smitherman brings over twenty years experience in the field of mediation, federal contract compliance, conciliation and complaint resolution.
consultant services have included government agencies, the entertainment industry, educational institutions, business and professional organizations.
conducts on site training and evaluations in EEO
and affirmative action compliance for corporate and private business sectors on how to comply with federal, state and local government employment regulations.
Prior to the development and incorporation of Absolute Mediation and Arbitration Services, LLC, Mr. Smitherman served as the Regional Director, Senior Executive Service (SES) for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) Pacific Region in San Francisco, CA. In his former position as Regional Director, Mr. Smitherman was responsible for enforcing Executive Order 11246, as amended, with Federal contractors doing business with the Federal Government insuring that affirmative action and nondiscrimination is evident in contractors' workplace.
Mr. Smitherman was recipient of several awards and recognized by the Secretary of Labor and executive management of OFCCP for his expertise and leadership in furthering the cause of human and civil rights to the American worker.
Most recently, Mr. Smitherman
was recognized by the Leaders of the National Council for Tribal Employment Rights Organization
(TERO) for his
outstanding contributions in furthering the civil rights and equal employment opportunities for Native Americans.
Mr. Smitherman earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in Labor Studies.
He is a certified Paralegal of Indiana University and holds Mediator certifications in employment and education with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Mediation Training Institute, International and is an alumnus of Cornell's School of Labor and Management program.
