William C. Quackenbush is a financial consultant and appraiser and serves as a managing director of Houlihan Smith & Company, Inc., a NASD broker dealer.Mr. Quackenbush has acted as a consultant for fifteen years, offering various strategic and financial services, including valuation, planning, debt and equity financing, and loan workout, the latter with private lenders, banks, and in the early 1990s, the Resolution Trust Corporation.Bank assignments encompassed loan workout, loan review, and appraisal review services, as well as asset valuation services.Non-bank issues addressed include valuation and consulting relating to reorganization, new project debt and equity financing, debt restructure in amounts up to $70 million, and merger and acquisition valuation.
Sample projects include (1) the provision of extended consulting services for a private liberal arts college under financial distress, working with management and board of trustees, bankers, and real estate professionals to manage cash flow and liquidate its primary campus (2) Consultation with a government agency, overseeing an economic feasibility study in support of a $200 million construction bond issue; and (3) debt restructure of a 40 property hotel chain with debt at twelve institutional lenders, some of which were under control of the FDIC or the Resolution Trust Corporation.
Additionally, Mr. Quackenbush served as President of Walden Federal Savings & Loan Association for seven years (1984-1991), and has additional banking experience with European-American Bank (1976-1980) and Brooklyn Savings Bank (1974-1976).He has also taught undergraduate accounting and finance, full time at The King's College (1980-1984).
Mr. Quackenbush holds an MBA from Adelphi University and is an accredited business appraiser, having been awarded the designations, ASA and CBA, and is an international instructor in business valuation.He speaks regularly to business and real estate appraisal groups, and has been a guest instructor to "Big-4" accounting firms.
