William E. Oberndorf began his career investing for the Bass family of Fort Worth, Texas, in 1978, and was a founding partner of SPO Partners & Co. in 1991.
He established Oberndorf Enterprises, LLC in 2012 to invest his family assets.

He is married to Susan C. Oberndorf, who is president of the Bill and Susan Oberndorf Foundation.

Mr. Oberndorf currently serves as chairman emeritus and board member of the Alliance for School Choice, an organization he co-founded that works nationwide to bring about K-12 education reform and expand school choice for low-income families.
