Bill Quaintance, P.E. Principal Engineer in Transmission Studies Bill joins Excel Engineering with 16 years of experience in Electric Transmission Planning. He formerly was employed for nine years by ABB Consulting in Raleigh, North Carolina where he performed voltage stability, generator interconnection, reactive power, SVC sizing studies and other planning studies for transmission systems across the United States. Prior to working with ABB, Bill worked for seven years with Duke Energy Corporation as a Planning Engineer. There he led a team of power engineers to develop the process and implement optimization of Duke's bulk transmission system voltages, solving potential voltage collapse conditions and meeting NERC requirements. He also performed dynamic stability analyses for Duke's nuclear power plants and developed Duke's dynamic stability database. Bill has performed interconnection transfer capability analyses and as a member of the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) Multi-regional Modeling Work Group (MMWG) he was instrumental in the development of the Eastern Interconnection powerflow models. Bill has a BSEE degree from North Carolina State University and a MSEE degree with a concentration in electric power systems from Clemson University. Bill is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina.
