was purchased by the Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited
in November, 1994, and a year later ownership was transferred to BELCO Holdings Limited
, also now the parent company of Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited and BELCO Energy Services Company
"There was a great transition here, from a family-owned business to a subsidiary of an integrated energy company", says DeSilva

in BermudaWillie DeSilva is a 1983 graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.After graduation from St. FX, he returned home to Bermuda where he has held several senior positions in the financial, management and telecommunications sectors.Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Paragon Management Ltd. and Director and Chief Financial Officer of Paragon Trust.Willie also spent one year working as Vice President, Finance & Administration for Quantum Communications Limited, which was partly owned by BELCO Holdings Limited.
