One son, William "Jim" Brayboy, six sisters and six brothers preceded her
formal education in the public school system of Florence County
.In her youth, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Kingsburg.Later, she joined the Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Turbeville, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and Missionary Board, where she remained faithful until her health failed.She was also a member of the Home Reform Society Lodge in Lynchburg.
