The world celebrated with William Becton & Friends
with the 1995 smash album "Broken".
Not only did it debut on the Billboard Gospel chart at #3 and reign at #1 for over 11 weeks, it also made significant noise on the Billboard R&B singles chart sitting comfortably at #59 for 21 weeks.
subsequent album releases built on the musical legacy that through the years has garnered him two Stellar Awards, two Gospel Music Workshop of America Excellence Awards, several Dove Award nominations and the coveted WOW Gospel Sales Award.
firmly established himself as one of gospel music's finest writing and producing machines.
And as he
continues to build on the platform of his
contribution to gospel music history, he
builds ministry and lives life.
In 2000 Pastor Becton
was licensed to preach the Word of God.
In 2005 he was ordained to the Pastorate and today serves as the multi-faceted Senior Pastor of Kingdom Purpose Worship Center in Charlotte, NC.
The ministry has grown and attracted many young professionals and entrepreneurs, who are establishing and achieving their goals through the Word of God.
It was this focus that led to a five year musical hiatus.
Also during this time, Pastor Becton
family suffered the loss of his
parents - his
mother in 2004 and his
father in 2009.
It features worship music from a multi-denominational and multi-cultural perspective that was honed while Becton was Minister of Music at a culturally diverse ministry back in Laurel, MD.
But it doesn't stop there, Becton
has big musical plans for the next five years - five records that will encompass some of the most talented vocal artists in gospel, as well as a "producer's record" featuring some mainstay voices in gospel.
And so the house that Pastor Becton
is building is made up of musical and ministry stones; life's experiences gelling them together, for all to see and be encouraged.
