Willard J Church Willard J. Church, 90, of Pawleys Island, S.C., formerly of Belpre went home to his Savior and Lord on Sept. 2, 2007, at The Lakes at Litchfield, following an extended illness.He was born in Gilmer County a son of the late Charles and Ava Weaver Church.He was a member of the Mullen Memorial Baptist Church in Belpre and regularly attended Pawleys Island Baptist Church, Pawleys Island, for the past eight years.He was an independent trucker for many years and retired from trucking with the DuPont Co. in 1977.In addition, he served in the United States Army from December 1941 to October 1945.As a member of the Reconnaissance Company 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion, fighting in the Pacific Theater, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze campaign stars.
