German President decorates Wilfried Ensinger Company founder receives the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany German President Horst Köhler decorates Wilfried Ensinger with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Wilfried Ensinger, manufacturer of plastics and founder of the Nufringen company ENSINGER GmbH, was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by President Horst Köhler in Villa Hammerschmidt in Bonn, on December 2, on the occasion of International Volunteers Day.Wilfried Ensinger was given the award in recognition of his diverse social, cultural and scientific work. The successful businessman has always been guided by a sense of social responsibility. When he decided to set up a branch in Cham in Bavaria, which was lacking in infrastructure, it was not purely for economic reasons.Aside from his work-related activities, he has also been active for many years on committees in the Chamber of Commerce, and since 2005 has been President of the Böblingen Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Of particular note is the Wilfried Ensinger Foundation, which he started in 1997 with a substantial donation of capital, and which supports scientific, cultural and community organisations.
In dialogue, the two Managing Directors took a look back at the company's history: They described the beginnings during the sixties, when Wilfried Ensinger would regularly put in a night shift after a long and arduous working day testing new methods or manufacturing semi-finished products.
Berthold Leibinger also emphasized the importance of Wilfried Ensinger's wife Martha Ensinger in building up the business. Wilfried Ensinger had succeeded, he went on, to "form an exceptionally skilled workforce", also on an international level. "Innovation, quality focus and team spirit are what have made this company great." Koehler went on to describe Ensinger as unique and yet typical as a model for a successful medium-sized family firm to whom Germany had good reason to be grateful. Wilfried Ensinger was born on May 19, 1936 in Esslingen. He completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker and went on to take his Master Craftsman qualification. He then worked as operations and factory manager in various companies in the mechanical engineering, precision mechanics and plastics processing industry. While in full-time employment, he continued his training as a time and motion study technician and also graduated with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. In 1966, Wilfried Ensinger founded the plastics processing company Ensinger in Ehningen. In 1997, he handed over the reins of management to the second generation. In 1997, he created the Wilfried Ensinger Foundation, which supports and promotes social, cultural and scientific institutions. Wilfried Ensinger was made an Honorary Senator by Stuttgart University in 2004. One year later, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. As President of the Boeblingen District Chamber of Commerce, for many years Wilfried Ensinger represented the interests of small and medium-sized businesses. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Managing Director of Ensinger Holding, he continues to provide impetus for the company he founded. A short time later, it launched the production of components manufactured by machining semi-finished products. At the end of 1977, Ensinger was able to dispatch its first series-produced thermal insulating bars made of glass fibre-reinforced polyamide 6.6 to manufacturers of aluminium windows. A second production plant erected in Cham (Bavaria) in 1980 enabled series production of insulating profiles and other product lines. Another pillar was created in 1985 with the launch of the injection moulding division. What is now the biggest of the company's subsidiaries was established in 1986 in Washington, Pennsylvania. Over the following years, Ensinger founded a large number of additional foreign subsidiaries in Europe, South America and Asia. Get the latest news from Ensinger directly to you... © Ensinger 2016. Ensinger has moved the head office of its Austrian subsidiary from Lenzing to Seewalchen am Attersee. On the new premises, the plastics processor has put up a state-of-the art production and administration building with a total area of over 4,000 m². Last Friday (16 October) the site was officially opened. Company founder Wilfried Ensinger expressed his thanks to the employees of the business divisions located in Seewalchen and also to the planners, architects, construction firms and state authorities for their support. In his speech, Ensinger reminded listeners of the difficult early years in Lenzing, the first site of the Austrian subsidiary. Following the purchase of the polyimide business in 1993, the company division operated at a loss for a long period until it managed to break even. Then things picked up with the subsidiary Ensinger Sintimid GmbH. "The other business divisions in Austria have also brought us a lot of joy in the past few years", said Wilfried Ensinger. 1. The spacers for the panes of insulating glass - manufactured with the aid of a special hot bending process - come from Ensinger itself.
Wilfried Ensinger's commitment to the family-owned company which he founded, Ensinger, goes hand in hand with his commitment to the community.
The aims behind his foundation, established in 1998, also share this sense of commitment: the long term support of social, academic and cultural projects. The areas of promotion The first area promoted by the foundation is the support of international aid projects whose objective is a self-help approach. The promotion of cultural themes within the regions closely located to Ensinger is another area of activity for the foundation. The third area has arisen due to the recent recognition of a predictable development: the increasing shortage of skills in high-tech mid-sized businesses such as Ensinger. Wilfried Ensinger has received a variety of high-ranking awards for his work, amongst others The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The University of Stuttgart has awarded him the distinction of becoming an honourable senator.
